So where's the ring? Well there wasn't going to be one. According to marriage.com, the original purpose of an engagement ring was to be partial payment for the bride and a symbol of the groom's honorable intentions. By that definition I suppose our house in Vermont is our ring.
However, while Mike's Mom was up for the party she gave me a gift of her engagement ring from Mike's father. I am honored to receive it. Below is a picture of the ring.
